10 Years Cancer Free!

I can’t believe 10 years have passed since my Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stage 3b diagnosis! I thank God everyday that He brought me through, & stronger than ever, with a deep passion for natural healing🙏🏽.

I mark today as my 10th year cancer free, as this was the day that I completed my very last chemo treatment. I did 6 months of chemo, 2x a month. I try to not live with regrets, & I must admit, it’s something that I still struggle with even ten years later…the regret of not looking towards alternative routes of healing instead of using chemo (which my oncologist told me has a half life of 10-12 years in the body!). I WISH I had all of knowledge that I have now about healing from the inside out & I WISH I was in the right head space to do so. I just know in my gut that 23 years of topical steroid use for eczema at the time contributed to the cancer. Plus just not taking care of my health in general, eating terribly etc. Clearly in retrospect I would’ve done things much different, BUT I’ve learned that everything happens the way it should, in its own divine time, in its own way. Some background to my diagnosis…I was 23 years old, I had graduated college the year before, the stress of school really took its toll on my body & my skin & overall health was going downhill fast. It’s like I could feel it the moment I graduated…like I was just holding out the last couple of months, struggling to make it through. I didn’t know anything about stopping the steroids and looking towards natural routes of healing, I had no intention of living a healthy lifestyle…I became reclusive because of the way my skin looked as it was getting worse and it was hard for me to even look in the mirror, hence why I had no idea of the lump growing in my clavicle. It was only until I went for a regular check up with a new primary care doc did she point out the lump. Many needle biopsies at the ENT doc later which were inconclusive, then to surgery of the removal of the golf ball sized mass which then led to the diagnosis of cancer.

My world stopped, in disbelief I felt like once again my body was broken. I had a mediport put into my chest to administer chemo…which my body literally pushed out weeks later! It’s like my body was screaming to me that it didn’t want chemo, & to find another way! I then had to have multiple PICC lines in my arms to take the chemo (multiple because my skin continually got infected from the PICC lines). Thank the Lord I didn’t feel sick, not once during chemo & that I didn’t lose all of my hair, just some of it, & it came back thicker than before! Everyone told me “you’ll be stronger after all of this” & it’s so true! In times of fear, I’ve told myself “if I can get through cancer like a boss then I can get through anything!” Although it took me 3 more years to learn about the danger of topical steroids, within that time I was seeking a better way of living, which allowed me to gradually change my lifestyle to a healthier one. I continued to hunger for knowledge and when I learned about naturally healing eczema I knew it was the direction I needed to be in. If you are dealing with a health issue, and/or cancer I highly recommend looking into alternative treatments, using food as medicine. Become knowledgeable on all of the resources out there…look into the Gerson Therapy, movies like The Truth About Cancer, What the Health, Forks Over Knives, books like The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, and amazing doctors like Dr.Greger are all full of great info to get you on the right path. I now know of how amazing our bodies are at self healing, that anything is possible and we just need to give the body the right tools to help it heal.

I’m cancer free and I give all thanks to God for getting me through & for continuing to repair my body! 💙

Coconut Water Benefits!

Getting my electrolytes in at Jax Veg Fest (vegan outdoor festival) yesterday! Hydration is KEY to healing and coconuts are wonderful for that! Coconuts are rich in potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium.

💚 DID YOU KNOW…..

🥥Helps replenish Electrolytes – Because coconut water is high in potassium, and such a great electrolyte replacement, it has even been used for IV hydration in certain emergency situations.

🥥Lowers high blood pressure – The potassium in coconut water counteracts the effect of sodium in the body, helping lower blood pressure.

🥥Reduces cholesterol – Researchers believe that the benefit of potassium, calcium and magnesium content in coconut water, all electrolytes that play a role in helping maintain heart health can help reduce cholesterol levels.

🥥Cleanses & detoxifies – Coconut water contains a similar electrolyte profile to human blood, making it an ideal beverage to replace fluids and help remove toxins from the body. Remember, hydration & elimination are KEY in detoxification!

🥥Reduces stress & muscle tension – Some of the electrolytes found in coconut water, specifically calcium and magnesium, may help with stress and muscle tension. Adequate calcium intakes may help keep our all our muscles relaxed. Magnesium has been nicknamed the “relaxation” mineral. Its primary function is in the parasympathetic nervous system, the part of the nervous system that helps us relax. It also helps with the formation of serotonin, the “feel good hormone.”

💚🥥💚🥥 Get your hydration in with fresh coconuts! If you can’t find them fresh, always look for brands that are refrigerated without any preservatives in them…it should only say “coconut water” on the ingredients list.🌴

Guest Post on the Eczema Itch

16 Ways to Combat Eczema Itch with Natural Eczema Treatments

I recently did a guest post for Prime Physique Nutrition on the awful eczema itch and ways that we can help the symptoms. Shout to Abby for letting me contribute to her wonderful website!

Healing from the inside out is most important when tacking eczema and all of the horrendous symptoms that come along with it. Focusing on diet and detoxification is key, I cannot stress it enough. When the body is cleansed from the inside out and in a more alkaline state, the diseases we are plagued with cannot thrive! 🙂

Make sure to check out the blog post HERE.

Additional Info with the Guest Post:

The Calming Bath Treatment is mentioned in number 4 in the post and I personally find it very soothing when I soak with it. It leaves the skin smooth and hydrated because of the healthy, natural moisturizing ingredients in it.

The Conqueror Soothing Dry Skin Balm is mentioned in number 7 and I also loves this product as it smells divine, gives the skin a well-hydrated feel without feeling too heavy. and a little goes a long way with it.

***More info on my Suggested Moisturizers and Soaps

Essential oils are mentioned in number 16 and I have a blog post where I specifically talk about the natural antihistamine blend HERE with my store site link in the post as well. I love this blend and product because of how effective it is and how it always gives me a calming relief in such a short time. It can really knock out any allergy issues and calm down an itch fest. Another blend that is effective is my Sleepy Time Diffuser Blend which can give calming relief and restful sleep. Diffusing that blend and taking the natural antihistamine blend is like a one-two punch for effective rest for eczema sufferers.

I hope all of these tips have helped! If anyone needs coaching support, want to just reach out, want to vent or need advice…please feel free to contact me via email: eczema.holistic.healing@gmail.com I’m always happy to hear from my readers and get you the support that you need! ❤ -Jen

Tips for Picking a Watermelon!

😜🍉WATERMELON TIPS🍉😜 I think watermelon (and melons in general) are a top eczema healing food to add to your diet. It’s super hydrating with its high water content, has fiber to help the digestive tract & comes with tons of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Eating melon is like bathing your body from the inside out! It’s best to eat melons first thing before other foods because they digest the fastest of fruits. You definitely don’t want to have it after a heavy meal because it will be like a traffic jam in your gut and cause all kinds of digestive distress (people at BBQs have it all wrong lol)!

I will have some fresh cut melon for breakfast (after my celery juice and warm lemon/lime turmeric tea), and then when I’m hungry again, I’ll enjoy some other fruit then a smoothie (I keep it high fruit from morning into the afternoon). A great deep cleansing tool is to do a watermelon fast/feast aka watermelon island for few days or longer. This type of mono fruit fast allows the body to clean house while putting its focus on healing because it’s only having to digest one simple food. Watermelon being super alkaline, electric and nutrient dense will aid the body in cleansing the lymphatic system and organs by pulling acidic wastes from the body. 🍉So get out there and get some melons today!🍉 ***squirting a lil fresh lime or lemon on watermelons give another depth of flavour and can even bring out the sweetness! 🍋#eczemaholistichealing

Also, make sure to beware of this GMO seedless watermelon:

Break Your Fast with Melon!

Ever had Honey Kiss melon?? 😋 It’s nice and sweet with a refreshing crisp crunch! I love to eat melon as my first meal of the day because it’s super hydrating and one of the easiest digestible foods! We have to gently wake up our digestive systems in the morning because we’ve been fasting all night (that’s why it’s called break-fast to break the fast). I like to drink 16-32 oz of water, then have my warm lemon or lime turmeric tea then eat some fresh fruit like melon. I got this at my nearest Wal-Mart actually for $1.98, super cheap refreshing breakfast., great for hydrating the skin 👍 you can subscribe to my Instagram page @ eczema.holistic.healing ☺️

Recipes! – Celery Juice!

I got inspired after the live coaching session that Abby & I held the other night for a group of eczema sufferers to get back on that celery juice routine! Abby reminded me about the benefits of drinking it and I started to remember how much I liked doing it every AM and how good my skin felt! I highly recommend adding this to your diet, I’m going to be more consistent with it from now on. Make sure you use organic celery, and you can use the Omega vsj843r slow masticating juicer, which you can find HERE. Making celery juice is super easy and healing for the body, inside and out! This is a Medical Medium practice, make sure to check out his site! http://www.medicalmedium.com/blog/celery-juice

Here’s info about all the benefits of drinking this juice:

  • Fresh celery juice is one of the most powerful and healing juices one can drink. Just 16 oz of fresh celery juice every morning on an empty stomach can transform your health and digestion in as little as one week.
  • Celery juice also has significant anti-inflammatory properties making it highly beneficial for those who suffer from autoimmune conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Migraines, Vertigo, IBS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis, Eczema, Acne, Lupus, Guillain-Barre, Sarcoidosis, Raynaud’s, Meniere’s, GERD, Bursitis, Restless Leg Syndrome, and Gout.
  • Celery juice is also strongly alkaline and helps to prevent and counteract acid reflux, acidosis, high blood pressure, joint pain, ringing in ears, tingles & numbness, hot flashes, blurry eyes, headaches, heart palpitations, edema, heartburn, fatigue, dizziness, muscle cramps, sleep issues, constipation, and bloating. It also helps to purify the bloodstream, aid in digestion, relax the nerves, reduce blood pressure, and clear up skin problems. Celery contains compounds called coumarins which are known to enhance the activity of certain white blood cells and support the vascular system.
  • Celery juice is rich in organic sodium content and has the ability to dislodge calcium deposits from the joints and hold them in solution until they can be eliminated safely from the kidneys. It is also an effective natural diuretic and has ample ability to flush toxins out of the body which makes it excellent to use on any weight loss program.

METHOD:

Using a juicer, simply just press the freshly washed celery through the juicer and enjoy!

*Make sure to drink once you juice or blend it, you don’t want to really let it sit, but if you do want to store it put it in an airtight glass container like a mason jar.
*Another great tip is to make a chewing motion as you’re drinking it. Whenever you are drinking a blended fruit or veggie juice you want to do this as it signals to the digestive tract that food is coming and to prepare to digest. It also stimulates the enzymes in the mouth to help break down the drink.

What the Health Documentary

Make sure to add this film to your Netflix queue! The illnesses that plague us today do not have to be a death sentence, we can prevent and even REVERSE disease with a simple change in the way we eat. We don’t have to be a slave to medicine when we can let the food be our medicine. I think we all need to be aware how the gov, FDA and big pharma are all tangled up with their own agenda to keep us sick, we can choose to live consciously, ensure life long health, help the environment, animals and our communities with our forks! HEALTH IS WEALTH!

Watermelon!!!

WHY DO I LIKE TO START MY DAY WITH WATERMELONS??? 🍉🍉🍉

Well because it’s not only super sweet, refreshing and delish, but super hydrating as it’s about 92% water! It is also soaked with nutrients! Did you know that each juicy bite has significant levels of vitamins A, B6 and C, lots of lycopene, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties and amino acids?? There’s even a modest amount of potassium! You can even eat the rind as it has health-promoting and blood-building chlorophyll, but the rind actually contains more of the amino acid citrulline than the pink flesh. Black watermelon seeds are edible and actually quite healthy as well because they contain iron, zinc, protein, and fiber. (In case you were wondering, seedless watermelons aren’t genetically modified, as they’re the result of hybridization.) I have watermelon for breakfast after I’ve had some water first thing upon waking and my warm turmeric tea. Watermelon is the easiest food to digest, and we need to ease the body into digestion upon waking because it has been fasting for 8 hours. This hydrating fruit is like bathing our organs first thing and giving it great fiber as well to get things moving along. It’s packed with electrolytes too, so perfect to enjoy after a workout! I like to also blend it with a nice 2″x 2″ square of fresh aloe gel and a squeeze of half a lime for a refreshing juice! Get some watermelons in your life!!! Your skin will feel more hydrated, your digestion will work better and you’ll be supplying your body with awesome nutrients! 🍉🍉🍉
